Is the Holtz Spa located nearby the major hotels and tourist attractions?
Yes, we are! We are located at the corner of Rideau and Sussex Dr. in the heart of Ottawa's tourist area. Both the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and the Westin Hotel are a few steps away and offer luxury accommodation while you enjoy your visit with Holtz Spa. The Byward Market, Rideau Centre, Rideau Canal, National Arts Centre and the National Gallery are all within walking distance.
What should I do if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel a reservation or reschedule your appointment, we do require 24 hours notice for individual services and 48 hours for multiple services and/or spa packages. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled in less than the required time will be billed 50% of the service cost. Any gift certificates used to hold your appointment will be considered void should you fail to provide the requested notice of cancellation. A major credit card number is required to hold your reservation. Your credit card will be charged if you fail to provide the requested notice of cancellation. Late arrivals may result in shortened services. Group or Corporate Bookings are subject to a 72 hour cancellation policy and must provide a non refundable deposit for 50% of the total group booking cost.
What do I wear?
Holtz Spa provides a robe and slippers for multiple services or upon request. Robes and slippers are automatically provided for multiple services and spa packages. You will be given a locker and key to leave your belongings. Simply change, slip your key into your robe pocket and wait for one of our staff to escort you to the lounge or treatment room. Under your robe you may wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. During a massage, facial or body treatment you will be draped appropriately.
It's my first time getting a facial. Anything I should know?
We recommend consulting with your esthetician before you begin your treatment, to discuss your options, new products and offers and of course to decide what might best benefit you. Your esthetician will also make you aware of any additional charges associated with additional services that you might request.
Does Holtz Spa have a couples massage room?
Yes we do, and it is very popular so be sure to request the couples massage when booking if you'd like to be together.
Do I have to chat with my therapist or technician?
Not for a second. You are here to relax and we suggest you take some down time for yourself to absorb the full benefits of your treatment. If you do feel like chatting though, our friendly staff have open hearts and minds and are always ready to listen.
How do I tip my service provider and what is a standard tip?
Tips are completely at your own discretion. We do offer envelopes at check out if you wish to leave a gratuity. For spa packages you may leave one tip that will be divided amongst your service providers.
Can I book extra services during my stay?
You most certainly can, providing there is an opening on that particular day. Ask your service provider to check on the availability and we will do our best to offer the extra service.
Is there shower facilities and can I dry my hair after my services?
Yes, we do have shower facilities and a blow dryer for your hair. We are also fortunate to have a full service hair studio on site so ask about adding a wash and style at the end of your day.
Can I exchange services on a spa package?
We do not exchange services on spa packages as the services are being offered at a special price. You can however exchange the spa package for its dollar value and create a package suited to your needs.
If I have a gift certificate that has expired can I still redeem it for services?
All our gift certificates have a one year expiry on services that may be extended for use from Monday to Thursday on any given week. Gift Certificates are non-refundable.
What is micro-dermabrasion?
A tiny jet-stream of crystals is gently steered across the skin's surface, breaking apart the surface layers of dead skin cells, to smooth and finish the complexion. Fantastic for treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, scarring and problem skin. You must moisturize and use sunblock after this treatment.
What is paraffin?
Paraffin is a warm wax that is used to increase circulation and improve dry and dehydrated skin. Paraffin goes on warm and quickly dries to form a vacuum on the skins surface. We strongly suggest adding paraffin to your manicure and pedicure.
There are so many massages on the menu. How do I choose what's right for me?
Yes, our massage menu is very extensive and choosing the right massage may be a challenge. Our web site gives a clear explanation on the techniques used in each massage and their benefits, but please feel free to consult with our front desk staff or with your massage therapist for a more detailed explanation.
I've noticed your body scrubs are 50 min. Can you actually scrub the body for that length of time?
We just love to explain how our body scrubs are performed. Each scrub begins with a wonderfull warm up massage with lots of stretching and relaxation techniques. The scrub itself is quite vigourous and is applied with quick circular movements to exfoliate dead skin cells. We finish off with a relaxing face, neck and head massage.
Can Holtz Spa accommodate large groups?
Yes we can. We have designated staff to book your group, wedding party or corporate clients. Please reserve your space with ample planning time to ensure availability.
Can I order food or beverages while I'm in the spa?
Of course! We have the award winning Sante Restaurant on site to service your needs. We offer a lovely Bento Box Spa Cuisine lunch or you may choose from our a la carte menu of scrumptious Asian Fusion Cuisine. We also serve juices, wine and other alcoholic beverages. Coffee, ice water and a selection of teas are available at all times in our Orchid Lounge.
