Community

Donna Holtom has a vision.  It was her strong views on the role of community in her Ottawa businesses that captured the attention of the Woman's Business Network, which presented her with the prestigious Business Woman's Achievement Award in 2000.

Ms. Holtom who owns both Holtz Spa and Sante Restaurant has received several tributes that cited her as a tremendous leader and entrepreneur.  The 58 year old mother of 4 is also known for her volunteer work with, among others, the Tulip Festival, the Ottawa Art Gallery and the National Arts Centre.  She also runs art shows at Sante Restaurant in an effort to promote local artists.

Donna Holtom sees her businesses as an opportunity to give back to the community.  "I think it's all about role-modeling....sharing information".  She attributes her family and her talented staff for much of her success, which she says is based on specializing in areas that can be easily brought together: food, health and wellness.

Holtz Spa is committed to diffusing its philosophies on health and wellness not only within the local community, but also nationally and internationally with Ms Holtom's participation and collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Commission Task Force on Spa and Wellness,  The Thailand Department of Export Development,  The International Spa Association,  Leading Spas of Canada and the Global Spa Summit.

Ms Holtom has also created a network of Community Partners with which she offers continuing financial support, not to mention the numerous donations to local organizations, businesses and associations.  Community Partners include:  Canadian Cancer Society, MS Society, The Children's Aid Society, United Way, Variety Club, The Arthritis Society, CNIB, The Ottawa Hospital, Reach Canada, Water Canada and the Palliative Care Outreach Program.
